Catalysis and Materials

The research in the Department of Catalysis and Materials focuses on heterogeneous catalysis and the synthesis of inorganic nanomaterials mainly for catalytic applications. The various subjects deal with the biomass, the development of fuel cells, the development of high-performance photovoltaic cells, the pollution of air and water and the production of hydrogen by water dissociation. Studies on the understanding of reaction mechanisms and the nature of the active sites, with the ultimate objective to optimize processes in order to reduce its impact on the environment, are also developed in this axis.
