Research objective

Nowadays, Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) is a display technology that is both effective and high-quality. It generates light through electroluminescence of organic molecules or polymers. However, stable and long-lasting blue OLED emitters are difficult to produce today. My PhD project, supervised by Dr. Julien Massue (ICPEES), aims to address this issue by developing Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence Fluorophores based on Multi-Resonance (MR-TADF) with versatile Excited State Intramolecular Proton Transfer (ESIPT) properties. Combining MR-TADF and ESIPT offers advantages for the intended application. On one hand, ESIPT fluorophores are highly emissive in the solid state and robust molecular scaffolds whose design can lead to various mono- or polychromic emission of fluorescence. On the other hand, MR-TADF enables the efficient recovery of the internal electrogenerated energy. My PhD project forms one part of the ANR TraSIPT (TADF Emitters with Frustrable ESIPT Properties).
